All Maxell optical disks are housed in a sturdy polycarbonate plastic cartridge, with a shutter which opens and closes for drive head access. This design protects the disk surface from exposure to dirt and dust that can cause read/write errors. Long disk life has been achieved through the combination of a high-grade polycarbonate substrate, reliable recording and an anti - corrosive protective resin. Rewritable optical disks are perfect for storage intensive files such as graphics, images and large databases. Magneto Optical disks are also ideal for use in jukeboxes. From the Manufacturer Maxell has created the world's first Direct Overwrite Magneto-Optical disk using LIMDOW technology, allowing you to cut your transfer time in half. This disk represents the next generation of 5.25-inch rewritable optical disk technology. The Direct Overwrite disk eliminates the erase cycle by writing new information directly over existing data. There is a 512 bytes/sector for a total of 4.1 GB. It meets both ISO and IEC standards and is specifically tailored to an 8x drive.
